The Local Pantry Sourcing Policy

We buy all our products from Yorkshire farmers, growers, producers and businesses. We aim to buy only what is fresh and at its seasonal best.

If it's not grown in the county we'll mark it NOT FROM YORKSHIRE and support Fair Trade Farmers in countries outside the UK. The team in the kitchen will work with the best of what's fresh and seasonal for you to try in the Café. We really want to hear all your ideas too for products recipes and other favourite local suppliers. Come in and tell us.

Flowers From The Garden

Grown by Elizabeth, Harrogate.

Elizabeth Jackson lives in Harrogate and is spending time developing her passion for flowers. Blessed with a beautiful two acre site on the edge of Harrogate where she is growing and developing a cutting garden. Over time she hopes to develop people's confidence in the viability of British grown flowers as a realistic and preferable alternative to imports.

Guppy's Chocolates

Husband and wife Peter and Fran Guppy are the creators behind Guppy's Chocolates. All their chocolates are made and packaged by hand.

They make their chocolates in small batches, so they're always fresh. In 2010 Peter and Fran decided to make their dream of having their own chocolate-making business a reality, and so converted their garage into their very own chocolate factory. As they grew and the demand for their tasty choclate got bigger they moved to a bigger premises just 5 minutes away from their home in York.

They're hoping their children will enjoy being part of the family business as they get older - they're already very good at tasting and putting on stickers!

Heron's Dairy Farm

Our cows are happy cows

Heron's Dairy Farm cows are traditional British Friesian native cows. They are all born and raised from calves on the farm in Bramhope. These native cows are used to our British climate and so spend their summer days outside grazing on the fields in Bramhope.

Heron's grow their own food on the farm to feed their cows in the colder winter months. These happy cows are milked twice a day, the milk is then pasturised, not homogenised, bottled up, then driven down the hill from Bramhope by Michael to our fridges here at The Local Pantry.

We pay Michael a good and fair price for his milk. Can Tesco say the same...?

Harrogate Preserves

Based in North Rigton, just a mile up the road, Sally started making Jams, Chutneys and Marmalade for the simple reason that she could never find a tasty Red Onion Marmalade or a simple Orange one, so decided to make her own. Sally enjoys making these products and takes great pride in hearing how much people enjoy her preserves.

All year round flavours
Chipper Jam (Chilli and Pepper Chutney); Date, Pear and Cinnamon Chutney;
Hot Red Pepper Ketchup are to mention but a few.

Seasonal flavours
Strawberry and Pimms Jam and Whiskey Marmalade
are a couple of the must tries...

Yummy Yorkshire Ice Cream

The Yummy Yorkshire farm is nestled in the heart of the Pennine Yorkshire countryside, with a farming heritage handed down through generations of the Holmes family, which Jeremy and Louise are proud to carry on today.

In 2007 Yummy Yorkshire was born when they started to make delicious artisan ice cream on the family dairy farm. From the word go, sales of the ice cream proved that Yummy Yorkshire was going to be very popular and sure enough, it wasn’t long before they were building a Coffee Shop and Ice Cream Parlour at the farm.

Yummy Yorkshire has since gone from strength to strength, winning many awards for their innovative ice-cream flavours and for the business
